An opportunity for a Grant Officer has arisen with the local authorities on a 3 Month contract

Pay Rate: 15.17 Per Hour (PAYE) plus Holiday pay.

Location: CW1 2JZ

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 16:00

Job Purpose:

To assess and verify grant applications for the Additional Restrictions Grant. Make grant award decisions in line with the Additional Restrictions Grant Policy. Ensure that all evidence and decisions are properly recorded for compliance and audit purposes. Contact applicants to obtain any missing information. Liaise with other Council services (e.g. Business Rates and Finance) to ensure payments are made promptly. Ensure appeals and decision notices are communicated and dealt with effectively.

Typical involvement will include:

  • Undertake grant application assessments and record grant decisions on the grant monitoring log.
  • Ensure that grant applications are verified and assessed efficiently and competently.
  • Ensure that verification checks are made and that grant decisions comply with the grant scheme policy. Ensure all evidence for grant decisions is recorded properly for compliance and audit purposes
  • Liaise with other Council services to ensure that pre-payment verification checks are made, and payments are made to successful applicants.
  • Support the Grant Team Leader with the recording and reporting on key metrics such as several grant applications received, assessed, awarded and paid.
  • Support the Grant Team Leader to ensure that decisions on grant awards or unsuccessful applications are sent out to applicants
  • Support the Grant Team Leader to ensure appeals against grant decisions are dealt with efficiently and effectively
  • Support the Grant Team Leader to ensure that enquiries from grant applicants, members and MPs are dealt with efficiently

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-level qualification in finance, IT, business management or another relevant field, or an equivalent level of experience/knowledge
  • Some experience in processing financial information and managing data
  • Experience of using Excel and Sharepoint
  • Knowledge of grant schemes
