Pupil Referral Unit Science Teacher

Children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health or Behavioural needs (SEMH) can require a different kind of teacher. Is that you?

If so, Academics have the perfect Science teaching role for you! Based in a Specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), you'll work to the Science GCSE curriculum, ensuring a good standard of education is given to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health or Behavioural needs.

About You:

  • QTS required with Secondary Science specialism (KS4 and Year 9 teaching)
  • Affinity for children with SEMH needs and Looked After Children (LAC)
  • Ability to plan, teach, and assess to GCSE standard
  • Committed to raising the aspirations of children with challenging behaviour in a PRU
  • An effective communicator, with children, parents, and colleagues
  • A team player, able to work collaboratively
  • Pastoral capabilities, including contributing to EHCPs
  • Adaptable and proactive; you must be able to react to the events the day could throw at you!
  • Professional at all times
