The company are a market leading organisation within the KBB sector, that are looking to strengthen their team with the key recruitment of a Senior National Account Manager to win and development key, National Accounts within the DIY (B&Q,), Mass Merchant (Wickes, Toolstation, Jewson), Retailers (Argos, Dunelm, Trago Mills, Costco, TK Maxx and Morrisons).

About the role

This role is critical to the sustainable growth and ultimate success of the business within the next decade and key points are;

  • Responsible for the planning, management and delivery of effective sales strategies that meet revenue and profit targets across your portfolio of customers.
  • Work with the Head of Retail to develop trading strategies through the creation and sell in of joint business plans to achieve annual fiscal targets and long-term objectives as set by the business.
  • Effectively co-ordinate cross-functional plans to deliver business objectives aligned to customer joint business plans.
  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of the customers business, including the operating systems, processes and requirements of the individual Accounts.
  • Create, build and maintain cross-functional relationships acting as the conduit between the customers business and our team.
  • Negotiate and manage pricing and trading agreements to deliver annual profitability targets.
  • Leverage relationship, product breadth and insight to develop new opportunities for incremental contribution within your customer base.
  • Forecast volumes at SKU level for ranged and promotional products by Account to feed into the forecasting process.
  • Work proactively to identify gaps within annual business plan and develop gap fill plans accordingly.
  • Generate timely reports based on analysis and insights, utilising the information to drive continuous improvement and increase sales.
  • Prepare annual and interim budget and forecast reports.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor activity for both the Accounts and the company covering product pricing, ranging, packaging and quality, merchandising, P.O.S. and promotional activity.
  • Utilise information systems within the Accounts and internally to monitor and analyse product performance and propose timely actions to achieve or exceed objectives.
  • Manage product life cycles within the Accounts to ensure timely withdrawal of under achieving lines and replacement with new or alternative products.
  • Maintain awareness of Account range review timetables to ensure appropriate product development prioritisation within the business.
  • Prepare and present new ideas, range proposals and trading plans to customers to support the joint business plans.
  • Monitor account specific stock levels to ensure volumes reflect forecast demand requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of Account communications.
  • Ensure product and pricing data on operating systems in the Accounts and the business are correct and compatible.
  • Monitor Account payment performance and assist in dispute reconciliation.

Key Skills/Experience Required:

The Ideal candidate will have experience winning and developing retail National Accounts, within the DIY, Retail and Merchant sector at a Head office level.

You will demonstrate and be confident in the following.

  • Goal oriented, confident, outgoing, able to work well under pressure and succeed within a competitive environment.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Must possess strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation & negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate integrity and sound commercial judgement.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Excel, Word & PowerPoint
