Assistant Management Accountant required

Fixed Term Contract for 1 year (potential perm)

Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be partnering with am established and successful company in the Cwmbran area who is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant for a 12-month period.

Reporting into the Financial Controller, the main purpose of the role will be to support the finance team with month end duties and work closely with the finance department to carry out day to day accounting functions. The successful candidate will also work closely with the operations team to carry out stock checks and audits whilst producing accurate and prompt reports where requested.Duties will include:

  • Preparation of draft monthly management accounts pack to present to management for review.
  • Explanation of variances to budget and prior year in management accounts.
  • Preparation of accruals, prepayments and intercompany journals.
  • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process ensuring completion, content and accuracy.
  • Involvement with weekly stock takes with weekly spot checks carried out.
  • Monthly/Quarterly stock audits.
  • Production of monthly departmental expenditure reports for department heads.
  • Weekly steel reporting and reconciliation.
  • Weekly factory labour reporting and analysis.
  • Build a good relationship with operations team
  • Ensure adherence to reporting requirements and deadlines on monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Support the finance team in all matters relating to the preparation, provision and resolution of queries relating to the audit of the company’s financial records.
  • Ad hoc reports / project work and analysis as required.

Experience required:

  • Part-qualified in Accounting (AAT, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Strong Excel Skills (Vlookups & Pivot Tables etc.)
  • Power BI preferred but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to speak to people at all levels)
  • Strong business acumen
  • People person & team player
  • Monthly budget variance analysis & investigation
  • Experience of month end processes (min 2 years)
  • Car Driver

The role is based in Cwmbran but will require occasional travel to another site in England (circa once per month)

The working hours of the role are 8.30am – 5pm with 45 min for lunch daily

The role will ideally suit an enthusiastic and motivated AAT qualified or studier / PQ who is seeking to work in a fast paced and close-knit collaborative team, whereby their good Excel skills can be utilised.

Whilst in the probation period, the role will be fully office based, and then will be 3 days WFH and 2 in the office.
