Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Full Time Uniform Stores Assistant to join Gwent Police at their Cwmbran HQ.

You will be working 37 hours a week Monday To Friday 9am to 5pm. This would be a temporary role.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING REQUIREMENT YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Role Purpose:

To assist with the combined central stores function, to ensure that stores are operated in line with Policy and Procedures. This will include issuing uniform, PPE, printed Police Stationery and IT software to all Gwent Staff members, recording and maintaining all stock held levels whilst also assisting in providing a goods inwards/outwards service for Gwent Police.

Principal Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Stores Manager, assist with the stores operation in line with policies and procedures to ensure that an effective and efficient service is delivered to internal and external customers. Working to deadlines, providing a customer based service and keeping abreast of operational changes within the organization.

  • To ensure records are maintained in both manual and electronic format as required. Use the computer based stock control system to support the function of both the Uniform Stores and PPE Stores.
  • To provide regular updates and developments to the Stores Manager relating to Police Stores and General Stores to ensure that best practice is maintained for Gwent Police.
  • To assist in our Annual Uniform and Equipment Stock take ensuring financial regulations are upheld and maintained.
  • To ensure hazardous items such as blood contaminated waste is disposed of in the correct manner in keeping with Health and Safety guidance.
  • To dispose of old uniform and equipment in keeping with Force policy
  • To monitor stock levels daily and where necessary replenish from overflow stock room.
  • To take delivery of items for the whole Force Estate and advise recipients the items will either be delivered or need to collected in person.
  • To pack and distribute uniform and PPE upon receipt of approved requests and maintain records of despatch.
  • To liaise with People Services concerning collection of uniform for new recruits.
  • To report any defects or issues with equipment to the Stores Manager.
  • To assist in the production of epaulettes and sliders.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment and where possible recycle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • NVQ level 2, or equivalent or with relevant experience for the role.
  • Must be able to evidence experience of working in a Stores or other service area.
  • Must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in a front facing and customer based environment.

Must have experience of recording information accurately on administration systems in a Stores environment including stock control, distribution lists and KPI's

  • Must be able to demonstrate a developed working knowledge of Microsoft office packages
  • Must have a practical understanding of Health and Safety Legislation including COSHH, Manual Handling and PPE.

Hold a valid UK driving license as the role may require items to be delivered/collected around the Force Estate.
