We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Cwmbran. Day-to-day of the role:- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the head teacher and class teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programs for students and help monitor their progress.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
- Assist class teachers with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills, particularly focusing on ASD pupils.
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or similar role.
- Understanding of the needs of students with special educational needs, including specific strategies to support ASD pupils.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- A patient, caring, and adaptable manner to deal with students with different educational needs in a sensitive manner.
- NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is preferred.
