Our client, leader in oil&gas and energy industry, is actively looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Role to be based in Darlington, UK

Main tasks:

Technical Leadership and Innovation

  • Drive innovation in mechanical design and engineering practices.
  • Define and implement technical strategies and standards to enhance design quality and efficiency.

Project Oversight and Management

  • Oversee and direct major design projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets, providing strategic input and resolving high-level technical issues.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and procurement to optimize design and manufacturing processes.

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies to support business goals and technological advancements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, technology integration, and cost reductions.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance (e.g., ASME, DNV, IMCA).

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Proven years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a track record of leading complex projects.

Expertise in engineering software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys) and analysis tools.

In-depth knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME, DNV, IMCA) and regulatory requirements.

Proven experience in strategic planning and project management.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive innovation and mentor technical teams.
