Macildowie are seeking an Operations Manager for a Logistics company based in Derby. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in leading and managing day-to-day operations.

A minimum of 3 years' experience with a similar role is essential.

Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm (Monday to Friday).

Salary: £32,000 - £45,000 dependant on experience.

Please note that this role is a full-time, on-site position.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of logistics personnel, including drivers, warehouse staff, and dispatchers. Conduct performance reviews and implement training programs to foster development.
  • Oversee and manage all logistics operations, ensuring that processes are streamlined and productivity is optimized.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, adjusting to fluctuating workloads and customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with business goals, driving efficiency and ensuring cost-effective solutions for all logistics activities.
  • Oversee the management of inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels, minimizing losses, and maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and resolving any operational issues that arise.
  • Monitor and control operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and identifying areas for cost-saving improvements.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Implement best practices in logistics and continuously monitor processes to identify opportunities for improvement in quality, efficiency, and customer service.
  • Use data and performance metrics to track the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations. Provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Ensure that logistics technology and software systems are effectively utilized to streamline processes, improve reporting, and ensure real-time data availability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 3 years in an operations management role.
  • Experience in managing a logistics team or department is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing teams effectively, with the ability to motivate staff and foster a positive work environment.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, including inventory management, transportation, supply chain optimization, and customer service.
  • Experience managing operational budgets and optimizing costs without compromising service quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software, ERP systems, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and resolve operational issues promptly.
