ROLE- Mechanical Development Engineer

LOCATION- South Oxfordshire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000- £42,000 per annum plus benefits (dependent on experience)

My client works within the engineering manufacturing sector, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Development Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the South Oxfordshire area.

The Mechanical Development Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified or the equivalent in Mechanical Engineering such as HND/ HND/ NVQ
  • 2 years or more experience working in a similar hands on Mechanical Design / Development / Manufacturing position within an engineering manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with using 3D CAD; ideally SolidWorks but other software will be considered
  • Have the ability to select the correct engineering components and materials
  • Experience of DFM
  • Previous experience of working with machine assemblies, test rigs or precision tooling would be desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
The Mechanical Development Engineer role will involve:

  • Being involved in engineering projects
  • Designing and developing products and manufacturing processes
  • Working with SolidWorks CAD software to design machine parts and tools
  • Being involved in product development; setting up equipment for testing
  • Meeting deadlines and targets that are set
  • Evaluating product specifications
  • Helping resolve any manufacturing issues
  • Managing own workload
  • Carrying out product testing
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team
