We are seeking a Service Manager for a short-term contract to lead and support the management of the Council’s Schools PFI contracts. This role involves managing complex contracts and governance across a large portfolio of schools delivered through the Schools PFI scheme. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in ensuring the schools are fit for both immediate and long-term educational and community activities.
Day-to-day of the role:- Indirect responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Schools PFI scheme.
- Liaise with strategic governance bodies including the Department for Education (DfE), Academies, and the Council’s Children and Young Person Services (CYPS).
- Ensure the schools are strategically managed to be fit for purpose for both immediate and future needs.
- Maintain strong connections with a range of in-house services acting as contractors to the scheme, ensuring quality and monitored outputs.
- Support the Assistant Director Property and Facilities Services in reviewing the governance of the contract.
- Collaborate with both internal and external legal colleagues to ensure the contract is managed, monitored, and controlled effectively.
- Proven experience in managing complex contracts, preferably within a public sector or educational environment.
- Strong understanding of governance and strategic management in public sector contracts.
- Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders including government departments, legal teams, and in-house services.
