Design Engineer, Bournemouth, £48,000pa (DOE)

The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems, from design and specification, through to test and verification. You will need strong technical knowledge, as well as problem solving, communication and project life-cycle knowledge.

This role will suit a Design Engineer with a background in component design and desire to work in a varied position that offers training and development.

Design Engineer responsibilities will include:

  • Design of mechanical components using CAD software (such as Solidworks)
  • Creation of associated technical documentation
  • Design of bespoke components for specialist applications, as well as updating & improving legacy designs.
  • Assisting with hands-on development testing.
  •  Reporting on component and product level development.
  • Maintaining contact with suppliers and customers on technical matters.

The successful Design Engineer will have:

  • Experience using CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks or a similar software
  • Formal qualification in Engineering such as HND / HNC or Degree
  • Excellent communication, numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new industry requirements, often for specialist applications.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload across multiple projects.
  • Creative and collaborative approach for generating new ideas
