Are you passionate about supporting students to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a small independent specialist school in Dover.
About Us:Our school provides a supportive, nurturing environment for students aged 10 to 16 (Years 6-11) with additional needs, including:
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
Many of our students have experienced disrupted or challenging educational journeys and thrive in our smaller, personalised setting. With a strong emphasis on building confidence, resilience, and responsibility, we aim to equip students with the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially.
The Role:As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal growth.
- Support students in managing their behaviour and understanding its impact.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other agencies to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Facilitate the delivery of highly personalised programmes to address individual needs.
- A compassionate and adaptable individual with a genuine interest in supporting young people.
- Previous experience in education, care, or working with students with additional needs (preferred but not essential).
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (essential).
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Competitive daily rate of £84 - £90.

Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to an hour to work.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly PMLD, is advantageous.
- Ability to provide personal care support, including toileting and feeding, as needed.
- Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility, and a positive approach.
- Willingness to undergo necessary background checks and obtain clearances.
- Hold, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service.
