Interim Construction Manager (Highways/Transportation)Location: SomersetContract: 2-Years Ongoing

Our client, a local authority in Somerset, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate construction activities for the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard while managing site operations, schedules, and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site operations across multiple CRSTS projects, ensuring smooth delivery and adherence to time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers (PMs) and Engineers to align construction activities with project schedules and resolve potential delays or conflicts.
  • Liaise closely with the NEC4 PM & Site Supervisor, ensuring construction phases progress efficiently and comply with contract requirements.
  • Work alongside the network highways team to manage site logistics, minimise disruption, and ensure projects do not negatively impact one another.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage risk and problem-solving on-site, addressing any issues that arise during construction to prevent delays and discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicate project timelines and changes, ensuring all stakeholders, contractors, and sub-contractors are aligned.

About You

  • Strong experience in construction management within highways or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with NEC4 contracts (Site Supervisor or Project Manager accreditation desirable).
  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring seamless coordination.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly in liaising with PMs, site supervisors, and contractors.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, site logistics, and risk management.
  • Ability to travel between multiple sites across the Bristol region.
