We are seeking a Theatre/Admissions Coordinator to join the Plastics team at a local hospital! 

This role is crucial for the efficient management of theatre scheduling and admissions, ensuring optimal use of resources and adherence to RTT18 targets. You will work closely with consultants, theatre staff, and various departments within the hospital to ensure smooth operations and excellent patient care.

As a Theatre Scheduler / Admissions Coordinator, you will:

  • Schedule inpatient and day case admissions to maximise theatre capacity, considering individual patient needs and consultant availability.
  • Coordinate outpatient pre-assessment and anaesthetic appointments, and manage direct-to-list cases from referrals.
  • Ensure surgical outcomes and patient attendance are accurately recorded and managed according to Trust policies.
  • Handle patient cancellations and DNAs effectively, filling cancellations to maximise theatre use.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient data on relevant systems, ensuring all communication with patients is timely and professional.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including arranging observers and managing interpreter services for non-English speaking patients.
  • Manage and order necessary equipment and medication in collaboration with the Pharmacy.
  • Support and supervise junior staff, ensuring all team members are well-trained and effective in their roles.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in hospital administration, particularly in theatre scheduling or similar roles.
  • An understanding of NHS performance targets would be advantageous. 
  • Proficiency in hospital management systems and patient data software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in plastic surgery would be desirable. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
