We have partnered with one of the country’s leading academic day schools in Middlesex, seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager for maternity cover to join a small yet dynamic HR team.
You will take the lead on ER cases and play a key role in delivering a high-quality HR service across the school. This varied role includes managing employee relations, all aspects of HR administration, supporting recruitment, and advising staff on policies and procedures.
The Key HR Manager duties include:
- Develop, implement, and communicate HR policies in line with employment law and best practice.
- Advise on and manage employee relations cases, including restructuring, disciplinary, grievances, sickness absence, and performance management (liaising with the external HR Consultant as required).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and employment law requirements, attending relevant committees and updating policies accordingly.
- Work closely with the Finance team to manage payroll changes, pay awards, and pension queries.
- Provide staff with information on benefits, Cycle to Work, and salary sacrifice schemes.
- Manage probation, appraisals, and the school’s online training platform.
- Attend staff committees, including Health & Safety and line manager meetings.
- Provide HR support to the school’s enterprise functions and international teams.
The successful HR Manager will be educated to GCSE level including English & Maths, coupled with CIPD Level 5 or above. You will have experience of working as a HR lead in a school environment, with particular knowledge of employee relations case work. You will bring expertise of employment law, policy and procedure, ideally with an understanding of the independent school sector
