They are looking for an experienced full-time or part-time Management Accountant to work closely with the management team to provide critical insight into all aspects of the financial performance of the business to deliver business objectives. This role will suit an analytical and versatile team player, who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills. We encourage candidates who are looking to grow with the organisation.Your new role Financial reporting to the senior management and shareholders, you'll provide support to key operational managers and other internal stakeholders for all income and expenditure streams. You'll be responsible for the effective delivery of period-end processes and the production of timely, accurate, and robust monthly management reporting, budgets, forecasts, risk and variance analysis, and year-end statutory accounts.Responsibilities include:
- Delivering timely, accurate, and comprehensive internal financial management accounts to senior management teams, offering insight into business performance and driving decision-making
- Taking responsibility for the budget and forecasting process, supporting budget holders, and having confidence in knowing when to encourage, when to instruct, and when to push back
- Delivering robust analysis and commentary explaining monthly performance variances against budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities, and supporting the business with reforecasting.
- Analysing budget and forecasts by area and providing reporting and explanations of the movements between actual/budget/forecast involving presentation to the senior management team and key stakeholders, being able to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
- Linking together operational and financial information, ensuring that the prime book of accounts is reflective of all the activities of the business, continuously reviewing systems and processes to ensure they are efficient and effective
- Providing support to the Finance Business Partners for the development and management of systems and processes that deliver coordinated financial management information to the business
What you'll need to succeed You'll ideally be a Qualified Accountant or sitting final exams (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) with strong practical knowledge of the principles of management accounting, forecasting and budgeting. Any previous experience working for a housing association or within property would be advantageous but is not essential. You'll also:
- Be an effective communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
- Have experience in presenting financial reports, data, and insights clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
- Have the ability to advise and influence key stakeholders of all levels in the business.
- Proactively challenge, introducing new ideas to drive the progressive development of the business.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs, demonstrating a logical approach to your work.
- Be highly numerate with strong IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
