Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ellesmere Port-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to recruit an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a full-time temporary long-term contract with an immediate start available.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the EYFS and KS2 classes. On a Monday, you will be supporting a pupil with the reception class on a 1:1 basis. You will be this pupils main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up(s) at the end of the day. This pupil can be very lively and disruptive during lessons. They are a lovely young pupil but can be very verbal and disruptive. You will be required to promote their engagement and learning by implementing a myriad of positive behaviour strategies. Tuesday through to Friday you will offer general support across the KS2 classes, supporting pupils on a 1:1 and group basis with intervention and boosters, and working alongside class teachers to promote a stimulating and engaging learning environment.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within a classroom environment within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience supporting disruptive/challenging behaviours
  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
