Your new companyA renowned market-leading manufacturing company in Ellesmere Port is seeking a strategic procurement Category Manager to join their growing team. The business has gone through a sustained period of growth (doubling revenue in the last 12 months!) and they need an ambitious category management professional with a strong manufacturing/engineering background to join their team and lead from the front.Your new roleThe Strategic Procurement Category Manager will play a crucial role in driving the development of category strategies and ensuring a robust supply chain is in place. This will entail building strategic relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders within the company's supply chain which ensure that risks are mitigated and that delays in the supply chain seldom occur. You will deliver value for money through working closely with your suppliers, but equally, you will develop commercial models which help to drive growth and deliver tangible cost savings and efficiencies. The Category Manager will work closely with Engineering colleagues to establish specifications and will act as the interface between Supply Chain and Engineering within the company, and you'll then work with suppliers to agree commercial terms and SLAs.This is a brand new role within the company structure, so there's a lot of exciting work for you to get involved with from day one. You will need to set up and establish procurement policies and ways of working, and then embed this into business-as-usual for the wider company.   • Proven experience in a Category Management capacity, demonstrating experience of establishing and delivering category strategies - ESSENTIAL
  • Strong experience of contract management, with a good working knowledge of contracts - e.g. contract flow-down, limitations of liabilities, contractual terminology etc - ESSENTIAL
  • A procurement background within a manufacturing / engineering environment - ESSENTIAL
  • Understanding of different contract forms, e.g. NEC3/4
  • Excellent supplier relationship management and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with financial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills
  • ****Willingness to travel to meet with suppliers and customers. This will be around 25% of your role, so you will need to be prepared to travel across the UK and sometimes overseas****
