Job Description: Credit Control Manager

Position Title: Credit Control Manager
Location: Exeter
Department: Credit Control
Reports To: Finance Director
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: up to 40,000

Our client is a leading organisation with over 89 branches nationwide, known for their commitment to excellence and innovation. We are looking for a skilled Credit Control Manager to join their team and help them maintain healthy cash flow and reduce credit risk.

Job Summary:

The Credit Control Manager will oversee the credit control function, managing a team of 4 responsible for credit assessment, collections, and ensuring timely payments. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills to drive efficiencies and improve cash flow.

Please note this role is office based, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the credit control team, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, discuss challenges, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Credit Management:
    • Oversee the assessment and approval of new credit applications and set appropriate credit limits.
    • Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue balances and take proactive measures to reduce aged debt.
    • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to mitigate risk and enhance cash flow.
  • Debt Collections:
    • Manage the collections process, ensuring timely and effective communication with customers regarding outstanding payments.
    • Negotiate payment plans and settlements with customers, balancing company interests with customer relationships.
    • Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes and ensure payment issues are addressed promptly.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and present regular reports on credit control performance, including aged debt analysis and cash flow forecasts.
    • Identify trends and areas for improvement, recommending strategies to enhance credit control processes and reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
    • Monitor key performance indicators and implement action plans to achieve targets.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to credit management.
    • Manage and maintain customer credit files and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Conduct regular audits of credit control processes and systems to identify and mitigate risks.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Strong experience in credit control, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of credit management principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
