The Opportunity

Join an innovative and fast-growing company. We need a dedicated Hygiene Manager to help maintain the highest standards at the manufacturing site.

The Role

As Hygiene Manager (Night Shift), you will lead and develop a high-performing hygiene team, ensuring that the site meets the highest food safety and sanitation standards. You'll oversee all hygiene operations, implement effective cleaning processes, and drive continuous improvement in hygiene practices. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll collaborate with key teams across the site to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, recruit, train, and motivate the hygiene team.
  • Oversee night shifts (10pm to 6am, Monday to Friday).
  • Develop and implement sanitation programs, policies, and processes to meet regulatory and company food safety standards.
  • Manage the annual sanitation plan, budget forecasts, and performance monitoring.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines and handling procedures.
  • Train hygiene team members in safety protocols, including chemical handling and equipment operation (e.g., Lockout/Tagout procedures).
  • Participate in audits, facility inspections, and pre-operational quality control checks.
  • Set and monitor KPIs to ensure cleaning is completed to the highest standard.
  • Maintain hygiene documentation to meet regulatory and customer audit requirements.
  • Oversee waste removal and pest control measures in partnership with external contractors.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and experienced hygiene professional with a strong background in food manufacturing, particularly in high-care chilled or frozen meat environments. You should have a keen eye for detail, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest hygiene standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a hygiene management role within a food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and food safety regulations (e.g., Advanced Food Hygiene, COSHH, IOSH).
  • Relevant hygiene qualifications, including:
    • Food Safety and Hygiene - Level 3 (minimum)
    • HACCP - Level 3 (minimum)
    • COSHH - Level 3 (minimum)
    • Knowledge of Listeria and microbiological awareness
  • Strong understanding of cleaning chemicals, their storage, and safe usage.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Technical, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
