About the Client

Our client is a well-established road transport haulier based in Felixstowe, Suffolk, with over twenty years of experience.

They offer:

  • Delivery of full container loads (FCL) from port to customers.
  • Retrieval of containers from port, removal of goods, and delivery of less than full container loads (LCL) to customers.
  • Warehousing facilities for customers' goods.

Team Structure and Internal Stakeholders

The Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Finance Director and collaborate with three other finance team members. Key stakeholders include the Head of Compliance.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Calculate and process weekly and monthly payroll runs using Sage Payroll.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts through posting journals and preparing month-end schedules.
  • Support other finance functions such as VAT returns and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports to support the Finance Team.
  • Support the external audit process by responding to queries and preparing schedules.
  • Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and documentation.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in processing payroll within a corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with Sage 50 accounts and payroll software is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic information processing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing individual responsibilities effectively.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
