Astute's Power team is partnering with a large sugar production company to recruit an Engineering Technician for its site in Bury St Edmunds. Technicians with both mechanical and electrical experience are encouraged to apply.
The Engineering Technician role comes with a salary of 54,000, rising after probation + full benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Area Lead you will:
- Work as part of the engineering team to carry out maintenance work on machinery and equipment This includes maintenance of packaging, milling, and product handling equipment
- Carry out troubleshooting and practical fault finding on plant, mechanical and electrical systems
- Installation and commissioning of new plant or modifications as appropriate
- Carry out planned inspection routes on process plant and proactive maintenance
- Report all engineering activities in the appropriate format into a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Work a shift pattern that includes day and night shifts.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- An NVQ level 3 as a time-service apprentice is essential in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Mechanical or Electrical / E&I technicians, experience in both disciplines is highly preferred
- A HNC would be an advantageous but not essential
- At least 4 years of experience working in the maintenance team in a fast-paced process / heavy industrial environment such as a FMCG site, power station, refinery, chemical plant etc.

The Engineering Technician role would suit someone who has:
- Ability to work a shift rota including days and nights
- Ability to work well alone or within a team
- Ability to effectively balance urgent and important tasks
