Mechanical Technician - Tyne and Wear

Overview

We are seeking an Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical assembly, test and service and will play a vital role in supporting our engineering department and conduct on-site installation, service and support activities for worldwide customers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of new and existing products
  • Assist in the assembly and calibration of mechanical and optical systems
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and improve testing procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and equipment calibration
  • Support the design and implementation of optical and mechanical prototypes
  • Help in the development and improvement of test fixtures and equipment

Qualifications

  • A qualification in engineering, mechanical or a science based subject to a minimum of ONC level
  • Proven experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with optical systems and components
  • Proficiency in using test equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to quality standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Day-to-day

  • Testing and troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • Assembling and calibrating optical systems
