We are partnering with a family-run construction business based in East Kilbride that prides itself on its commitment to quality and service. Offering an annual salary of 25,000 to 30,000 per annum, they are currently seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join their friendly team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities in your new role as Finance Assistant

The key responsibilities include operating all aspects of the subcontractor ledger, which encompasses processing subcontractor applications, verifying their tax status with HMRC, and certifying subcontractor payment certificates. Ensuring compliance with all HMRC rules related to subcontractor tax status is crucial. Additionally, determining the correct VAT status during the processing of subcontractor certificates and payments is required.

The role also involves reconciling the purchase ledger and subcontractor payment runs, as well as managing the entire sales ledger from billing to chasing payments when necessary. Providing holiday cover for weekly payroll processing is also expected when needed.

Your personality, experience and qualifications

Skills and experience required for this role include essential previous experience in a similar position, particularly with subcontractor ledgers. While experience in payroll management is desirable, excellent multitasking abilities and a keen attention to detail are crucial. Strong communication skills are necessary, to enable effective liaison with staff at all levels across the business.
