Based in the city centre, you will work for an organisation that provide expert advice on areas such as personal injury, employment law and medical negligence. Harper Macleod are currently seeking a Finance Support Apprentice to join their Tax team, working within their Private Client department. You will be working for an award-winning legal firm who are also well renowned for their work with apprentices.

In 2023 alone they onboarded over 20 apprentices into their offices across Scotland. You will be working towards a Digital Applications Support SCQF Level 6 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for managing and overseeing tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and supporting both internal teams and clients with tax matters. Using Amicus, you will store all client information.
  • Inputting all relevant information to HMRC's Trust Registration Service.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tax-related documents, including receipts, forms, and filings on Elite 3E. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will become a superuser of this system.
  • Diary management using MS Outlook.
  • Prepare and consolidate tax packs for clients.
  • Maintenance of department control sheets. 
  • Collaborating with the Tax Team Assistant, when necessary, with new matters instructions; Billing Guides etc.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy when working with data
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and in writing
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to use initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team

Salary: £19,838 per annum.

Working week: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Future prospects:Should you perform well in this role there is an opportunity for you to take up a permanent position at the end of your qualification. Many of our previous apprentices are still with the company. Future salary will be discussed should you be offered a permanent role.
