About the Role:
Join the Council's Strategic Procurement Service as a Procurement Officer. In this role, you will either lead tender activities or provide specialist support and analytical services to the procurement team and its customers. As part of a flexible team, you will work on a range of commercial projects to meet the council's procurement needs. Success in this role depends on building strong relationships with commissioners, project managers, outcome managers, and other internal teams.

You will need to demonstrate solid procurement knowledge and may focus on specialist areas, including leading specific procurement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical and informed advice to commissioners and clients to ensure customer outcomes and value for money are achieved.
  • Apply your specialist knowledge to deliver optimal results.
  • Conduct market and supplier research to support commissioning and commercial strategies.
  • Lead or assist with procurement projects and participate in project/review board meetings.
  • Assess and maximize Social Value through your procurement work.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, partners, and external suppliers.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with procurement activities.
  • Stay updated on relevant policies and legislative changes.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal and council policies.
  • Lead or support tendering processes as needed.
  • Prepare a comprehensive procurement strategy outlining your findings and recommendations.
