Job Title: Interim Senior Estates Surveyor

Location: Gloucestershire, hybrid

Contract Type: Interim, ongoing

Salary: Circa £400 per day Inside IR35

Spencer Clarke Group are looking to appoint an Interim Senior Estates Surveyor on behalf of a Local Authority client in Gloucestershire. Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering valuation and estate services, supporting the Council's strategic objectives, and ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.

You will oversee a diverse caseload, including property valuations, acquisitions, disposals, and asset management projects, providing professional expertise to maximise value and achieve the Council's best value objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on a variety of valuation and estate matters, including acquisitions, disposals, compensation claims, and rating issues.
  • Manage a portfolio of complex cases, including valuations exceeding £20 million and acquisitions/disposals over £5 million.
  • Supervise and advise a team of 3 staff members, including Valuers and Assistant Valuers.
  • Lead on negotiations for acquisitions, disposals, and property transactions, ensuring financial and strategic objectives are met.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Council's valuation and asset management strategy, working collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Undertake valuations and property appraisals for a range of purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with RICS standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Estate Management or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Post-qualification experience in a commercial organisation or local authority, with a strong track record in valuation and estate management.
  • RICS Registered Valuer accreditation (desirable)
  • Knowledge of marketing, disposal, and acquisition methods for land and buildings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of valuation, asset management, and property legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage high-value and complex property transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
