JOB IN BRIEF IS.... Our client is looking for an experienced Transport Manager that has the CPC qualification, the job is take control, lead, run and manage an entire Transport Operation for the movements of Wheelchair access and general minibus routes throughout Surrey for Schools, local events, hospitals and care-homes. You will be in charge of 25-30 Vehicles and Routes of over 75000 per year.


As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet, compliance with regulations, managing a team of drivers, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

As our Transport Manager you will:

  • Provide clear leadership and motivate a well-established team to ensure the aims of the business are met and its good reputation as an employer and transport provider is maintained.
  • Be responsible for the development, operational effectiveness, statutory administration and financial management of the organisation.
  • Be expected to display a willingness to get involved and contribute to the teams output when required.
  • Work closely with the General Manager to develop a long-term strategy, set budgets and formulate business plans as well as advise and guide them in their legal and regulatory compliance and other obligations.
  • Be an ambassador for us and provide the public face when representing the business.
  • Simultaneously manage the business to ensure the ongoing high-level performance of the day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Report to the General Manager to enable them to monitor the business and to provide high level governance and strategic advice.
  • FLEET MANAGEMENT -Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and efficient operation of the organisation's transport fleet.
  • Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs, and regular maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies for cost-effective fuel management.
  • PEOPLE MANAGEMENT -Recruit, organise, supervise, inspire and motivate staff, and set goals and targets for team members.
  • PLANNING -Develop and optimise transportation routes to maximise efficiency and minimise travel time.
  • Collaborate with drivers to ensure adherence to planned routes and schedules.
  • Implement technology solutions for real-time tracking and route optimisation.
  • COMPLIANCE -Stay abreast of relevant transport regulations and ensure compliance with local and national laws.
  • Manage and update required documentation, licences, and permits for the transportation fleet.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for drivers.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of our community transport services, including health and safety (vehicles, staff and passengers), and arrangements for child protection and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults using our buses.
  • Ensure that the business operates within the annual budget and delivers the organisations business plan and, if necessary, help to identify funding opportunities and to identify potential opportunities for income generation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and funding partners to ensure we provides the appropriate range and quality of services and fulfils key SLAs.
  • Direct oversight of all commercial aspects of contracts at the business.
Qualifications
Transport Manager CPC Qualification is required for this role, desirably CPC in Passenger Transport (PCV) but HGV CPC TM certificate is acceptable as skills are transferrable.

You WILL NEED to be able to pass an Enhanced DBS Background check from the UKGOV due to the nature of this role.

Working Times
  • Monday to Friday
  • 6-7am - 4-5pm
  • Some Overtime
