MRD Recruitment is actively looking for a Transport Shift Manager to work on a permanent basis for our Logistics Client. This role is based in Greenock and reports to the Operations Manager.

The successful Transport Shift Manager, based in Greenock will be responsible for managing a team of planners, ensuring planning operations run effectively and efficiently.

The Transport Shift Manager, based in Greenock will also be a confident problem solver, supporting with planning in a fast-paced, varied environment.

This role will include an occasional weekend shift.

Key Responsibilities for the Transport Shift Manager:

  • Provide leadership and supervision of day-to-day transport operations.
  • You will also be required to work closely with customers to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
  • Managing a team of planners and overseeing planning operations.
  • Managing the maintenance and service schedule for the depot assets.
  • Managing and overseeing the yard and warehousing.
  • Monitoring Health and Safety and compliance.
  • Dealing with customer relations and a range of associated administrative duties.
  • Answering all queries, both internal and external via email, phone and face to face.
  • Assisting in production of KPI's and daily statistics
  • Ensure capacity is maximized at all times, to allow optimum productivity.
  • Accountable for producing reports for senior management.

Key Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Prior experience of planning or general IT software.
  • Experience in management of colleagues
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Customer service experience
  • Understanding of KPI's
  • Good time management skills
  • Proactive approach and the ability to creatively problem solve where needed.
  • Wide ranging communication techniques: written and oral, listening, influencing, positive body language and facilitation.
  • Taking responsibility and demonstrating commitment
  • A good understanding of the Health and Safety requirements
  • Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast-moving environment and planning and organising skills
  • Excellent Decision making
  • Confidence in utilising Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
