Legal PA (Dispute Resolution)

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive PA to join our Dispute Resolution department. The primary role of the PA is to provide direct support to our fee earners, enabling them to operate at optimum efficiency. This position requires a high degree of self-management and initiative.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare correspondence and documents, including transcribing digital dictation.
  • Handle mail and enclosures for dispatch.
  • Progress client matters independently in the absence of fee earners.
  • Schedule appointments, arrange meetings, and maintain up-to-date diaries for fee earners.
  • Attend to clients both in person and on the telephone, providing support in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage filing systems, including the opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of client files in accordance with office procedures.
  • Handle copying tasks personally if an Office Assistant is unavailable.
  • Prepare and manage the conference room for meetings, including tidying and providing refreshments if required.
  • Support other PAs and secretaries and provide guidance to junior and temporary secretaries.
  • Undertake specific training and engage in self-development.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all firm and client documentation and information.
  • Operate the firmā€™s case management system and suggest improvements to department efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as required from time to time.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Substantial previous legal secretarial experience, including at least 2 years in dispute resolution.
  • Excellent touch-typing skills with high accuracy.
  • Advanced IT skills.
  • Ability to keep up with fee earnersā€™ work production and understand their working preferences.
  • Proactive approach to work with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent attention to client service and ability to interact well with both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, cope under pressure, prioritise workload effectively, and work as part of a team.
  • High level of courtesy and respect in dealing with clients, colleagues, and contacts.
  • Commitment to the firm and a genuine interest in legal work.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Practice Evolve or other case management systems.
  • Knowledge of law/legal practice.
