An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Semi-Senior / Senior Accountant to join a well-established Chartered Accountancy Practice based in Halifax. This is a fantastic chance for someone who’s passionate about accountancy and eager to further develop their career with the backing of a supportive, forward-thinking firm.

Whether you're AAT qualified, part-qualified or fully qualified, this role offers plenty of variety, responsibility, and the potential to gain invaluable experience while working towards your ACA/ACCA qualification.

What You'll Be Doing:

In this hands-on role, you’ll take ownership of your own client portfolio, ensuring that you deliver high-quality work across a range of services.

The key duties include:

  • Preparation of year-end accounts for a variety of clients, including Limited Companies, Sole Traders, and Partnerships - you’ll ensure everything is completed to the highest standard, keeping clients happy and meeting deadlines
  • Corporation Tax computations and returns - your technical skills will be crucial here, ensuring tax returns are completed accurately and on time
  • Self-Assessment Tax Returns - you’ll assist in preparing tax returns for individuals, dealing with everything from straightforward to more complex cases
  • Bookkeeping and Management Accounts - you’ll prepare regular management accounts, supporting clients with accurate and timely financial information that helps them make better business decisions
  • Client relationship management - You’ll serve as the primary contact for your clients, building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with them. You’ll be the go-to person, offering advice and guidance on everything from general accounting to business strategy
  • Supporting junior staff - You’ll be mentoring and training trainee accountants, helping them develop their skills and knowledge. It’s a great opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and contribute to the development of the next generation of accountants

What You’ll Need:

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a strong background in accountancy practice, with at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role. You should be AAT qualified (or working towards ACA/ACCA) with experience of using cloud-based software like Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar. You’ll need to be highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
