SANZA Teaching Agency?are working with a leading provision in Harrow. They are seeking a?full-time teaching assistant/learning support assistant?to support primary students in their?pupil referral unit.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The school consists of a primary and secondary pupil referral unit, an outreach team, inclusion support team and other services. They cater for students aged 5-16 years who are unable to attend mainstream school due to being permanently excluded, or facing physical or mental illness, or other circumstances. It is a multi-agency provision that brings together support services from different fields who all work together to support vulnerable young people.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a learning support assistant/teaching assistant, you will:

  • Support the social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs of students
  • Be willing and able to deal with challenging behaviour
  • Support the learning of children in the class, including individual, small and large groups
  • Monitor and support children that have social, emotional and/or mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and possibly other special educational needs?
  • Support the students academically, socially and emotionally, encouraging positive behaviour and using positive reinforcement?

YOU WILL NEED TO

  • Have experience as a teaching assistant/learning support assistant
  • Believe in taking a holistic approach to the child's learning journey
  • Be calm and empathetic but able to set boundaries
  • Be trustworthy and reliable
  • Genuinely want to make a different to the lives of vulnerable young people
