If you're passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), this role might be perfect for you!
We are excited to partner with a 3-form entry primary school in Harrow, rated 'Good' by Ofsted. Located in a well-connected area with excellent transport options, this school is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant.
The school is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student receives the support they need to succeed and thrive.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the rewarding opportunity to support a child in Key Stage 1 with autism. Your contributions will be pivotal in helping this child flourish both academically and socially, as well as emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support: Work one-on-one and in small groups to assist a pupil in the classroom, adjusting tasks and activities to meet their individual needs.
- Encourage active participation: Support the student’s involvement in lessons, fostering a sense of inclusion and motivation.
- Assist with personal care and mobility: Provide necessary support for personal care and physical needs, ensuring emotional well-being is also attended to.
- Support emotional and behavioral development: Create a positive, nurturing environment for the student’s growth and self-esteem.
- Collaborate with the teacher: Work alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning strategies that support the child’s specific requirements.
- Track progress: Help monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents, contributing to overall assessments.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs, ideally in a primary school setting.
- A deep understanding of how to support children with learning challenges and emotional/behavioral needs, with a creative approach to providing personalised support.
- A patient, empathetic nature with a talent for building trusting relationships with students.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to support and help others.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to engage with students in a positive manner.
- Enthusiasm for being part of a team that champions inclusive education.
