Managing Director - Specialist Engineering
Location: Havant | Salary: Competitive Salary + Profit-Linked Bonus

We're recruiting for a Managing Director to lead a highly specialised engineering business whose products play a critical role in global infrastructure. This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of a well-established company, driving its continued success while bringing fresh ideas and strategic growth.

This role offers full P&L responsibility across two sites-Havant, where you'll lead a small but effective team of under 20 (Quality and Assembly/Kitting), and Essex, where you'll oversee a team of 20 in R&D, Testing and Sales. With 80% of revenue coming from repeat contracts, this business holds a dominant market share in its niche field.

Tell me more!

You'll take charge of all aspects of sales, supplier relationships, stock control, quality compliance, and risk management, ensuring smooth operations in a high-value industry where systems in the field are worth hundreds of millions.

Day-to-day, you'll be based in Havant (Monday to Thursday as part of a four-day working week), with monthly visits to HQ in Essex and quarterly visits to UK suppliers. The sales focus is on account management and contract maintenance, and while international travel isn't required, you'll play a key role in ensuring strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be expected to challenge existing practices, enhance efficiency, and explore new opportunities-such as expanding contracts and modernising systems with process automation.

What do I need?

? Proven P&L accountability and financial leadership.
? Extensive experience in supply chain management and MRP systems.
? Strong background in quality assurance, compliance, and risk management.
? Ability to motivate and lead teams, making key people management decisions.
? Mechanical/electrical engineering knowledge (ability to read engineering drawings).
? An MBA or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

Why This Role?

This is a stable, profitable business with an excellent foundation, but there's still room for innovation and growth. You'll have the autonomy to shape the division and expand into new sectors, all while benefiting from strong market demand.
