Our client based in the Waterlooville area, is looking to recruit and experienced Lead Moulding Technician, you will be integrated into a cooperative and encouraging team, participate in challenging yet critical work, and experience ongoing growth opportunities to help you achieve your full potential.

This role will focus on:

As Lead Technician your primary focus will be to support the efficient use and maximised output of manufacturing within the company. You will ensure that you and your team are procedurally compliant, whilst adhering to our high health and safety standards. You will oversee and manage the repair and servicing of all production mould tooling with our external toolmakers, as well as identifying areas for continuous improvement across manufacturing including but not limited to SMED, cycle time and scrap reduction projects. You will need to accurately maintain documentation to ensure full product traceability to our customers and compliancy with Good Manufacturing Practices GMP.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for your team of technicians, ensuring they work in a safe and supportive environment.
  • You will collaborate with and continually support the manufacturing team to ensure production plans and business needs are met.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and tooling defects, produce detailed tooling reports, and work directly with toolmakers to resolve issues on all validated production tooling.
  • Manage the daily workload of your team by effectively prioritizing tasks to meet operational goals.
  • You will oversee mould tool changes, set-ups, and production approvals, ensuring these are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste throughout the manufacturing process.
  • You will work with the HR team to address and investigate any concerns related to disciplinary actions, performance management, or sickness absence within your team.
  • Maintain all relevant documentation to ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 14644 cleanroom requirements, BS EN ISO 9001, and cGMP standards.
  • Liaise with Planning, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Quality Control teams to maintain an efficient manufacturing flow.
  • Support engineering in the process development of new tooling projects.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • You will have significant technical experience in injection moulding and mould tool setting, ideally in a highly regulated environment
  • You will have experience leading and managing a team effectively.
  • Experience of setting up new processes for both cold runner and hot runner tools.
  • Ideally you will have strong understanding of BS EN ISO 9001 and cGMP standards to ensure compliance in manufacturing.
  • Any knowledge of BS EN ISO 14644 cleanroom requirements to maintain sterile workspaces is advantageous although not essential.
  • Any understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ validation processes within a regulated pharmaceutical setting is advantageous although not essential.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing to BS EN ISO 9001 standards is desirable
