My client is seeking an Accounts Office Manager to join their team of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents. This role does not require a specific property management background but does demand strong accounts and management experience. The successful candidate will replace an incumbent who is planning to retire between August and December. This is a critical role managing day-to-day accounts and overseeing a small accounts team.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including purchase ledger, payment chasing, and VAT returns.
  • Manage payroll operations; outsourcing is an option if necessary.
  • Utilise QuickBooks Online for business accounting tasks.
  • Manage finances on behalf of clients, including handling VAT returns for five farms/estates.
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail in all financial documentation and reports.
  • Manage staff-related administrative tasks such as holidays, sickness, and contract writing in coordination with an external HR company.
  • Handle the renewal of utility contracts.
  • Directly manage two staff members in the accounts department and indirectly associate with a broader team of 47 across other offices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven accounts and financial management experience.
  • Strong capability in using QuickBooks Online and other relevant accounting software.
  • Experience in managing payroll and comprehensive knowledge of financial operations including VAT returns.
  • Excellent organisational skills with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain proactive under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing a small team effectively.
