Rochdale Council is seeking a dedicated Ground Maintenance Worker to join our team for a three-month period. This role involves carrying out various gardening and grounds maintenance tasks across the council's green spaces. If you are physically fit, reliable, and keen to develop your skills in horticulture, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Day-to-day of the role:- Perform general gardening and grounds maintenance duties, including grass cutting using pedestrian, hand-held, and ride-on machines.
- Engage in strimming, hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, and edging off.
- Remove weeds and perform general street cleansing.
- Litter picking and emptying litter bins as required.
- Work across different locations within the borough and be open to working overtime on an ad-hoc basis as needed by the service.
- Physical fitness and reliability.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work in various parts of the borough and to work overtime as needed.
- Full and clean driving licence is desirable but not essential.
- Qualification in Horticulture (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in a grounds maintenance environment is advantageous.
- Pesticides application Certificate PA1 & PA6 is desirable.
- Willingness to adhere to the council’s Health and Safety Policy.
