This role is for a Principal Mechanical Engineer in a leading design and manufacturing business that serves the defense industry. The position involves leading a skilled engineering team, designing complex electro-mechanical mechanisms, and overseeing the full design process from concept to production.
Principal Mechanical Engineer Key Responsibilities:Lead a team in designing innovative mechanical systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and perform engineering analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration).
Develop prototypes, create manufacturing drawings, and oversee testing and verification.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, systems, quality) and support project management to meet deadlines.
Engage with clients and suppliers to ensure timely execution of projects and provide technical support to sales teams.
Strong background in designing complex systems for harsh environments, ideally in defense or similar sectors.
Proficient in SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools.
Extensive experience in material selection, machining, corrosion prevention, and motion control mechanisms.
Proven leadership in managing project timelines, coaching engineers, and ensuring successful team outcomes.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and adaptable approach.
