Day-to-day of the role:

As an Autism Specialist Teacher Assistant, you will: * Support the Autism Specialist Teacher in developing and implementing educational strategies tailored to the needs of students with autism. * Assist in creating a supportive, engaging, and effective learning environment for students with special needs. * Help implement evidence-based practices to enhance students’ communication, social skills, and behavioural management. * Participate in assessments to monitor student progress and adapt educational plans accordingly. * Provide support to other staff members in understanding the best practices for supporting students with autism. * Engage with families to provide insights and strategies that support their children’s learning and development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with SEN children in a similar role or a role with transferable skills.
  • A confident, proactive approach, with a desire to go above and beyond in supporting children with special needs.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to effectively work with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development in the field of autism education.
