Head of Project Management for a multinational heavy engineering business with 4 UK sites. The Head of Projects will be based out of their HQ in West Yorkshire and will lead and manage a team of x12 Project Managers and Document Controllers, overseeing the entire life cycle of customer orders. This includes requirements capture, cost and risk management, on-time delivery, quality assurance, compliance with scope, commercial management, and effective communication both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the Project Management and Documentation Control teams, providing oversight and guidance on all management issues.

Coach and mentor Project Managers, Lead Document Controller, and the wider team to achieve on-time delivery of commercial contracts and compliant contract documentation.

Identify areas of under performance and implement or recommend corrective actions.

Oversee resource allocation within the department, ensuring work accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

Coordinate weekly Major Project Review meetings, ensuring critical actions are recorded and executed.

Manage the coordination of monthly Output Plan with internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure effective customer communication throughout the project life cycle, including timely progress reporting and negotiation of contract variations and concessions.

Review and negotiate commercial terms in collaboration with Sales and Project teams.

Minimise commercial and legal exposure and provide commercial guidance to support business development.

Resolve commercial disputes and assist senior management in their resolution.

Operational Management:

Identify and mitigate operational risks.

Ensure all work complies with current H&S requirements and business standards.

Coordinate external inspections and maintain a strong link with Document Control.

Oversee project tendering and contribute to the proposal review process and monthly S&OP inputs.

Reporting and Compliance:

Supply reports and progress updates to the Plant Managing Director as required.

Attend Order input, Project reviews, Cash review, and Output meetings.

Ensure work complies with scope, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

Review performance of strategic and tactical objectives and provide guidance on achieving them.

Contract and Documentation Management:

Manage acceptance of all commercial and nuclear contracts from inception to completion.

Resolve queries related to Letters of Credit and ensure all contract documentation is compliant.

Additional Responsibilities:

Undertake any tasks commensurate with the position as requested by the Director of the function.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree qualified, ideally in a related field.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in contracts and commercial management in an OEM environment.

Proven experience in managing complex projects and leading diverse teams.

Strong commercial acumen and experience in risk management and dispute resolution.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

In-depth understanding of compliance and quality standards within the industry.
