GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team in a Hull primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a calm and caring approach, ideally with experience in phonics and early learning development.
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support children’s social, emotional, and academic growth through play-based learning, individual support, and group activities. You’ll work alongside class teachers and EYFS leaders to create a safe, stimulating and engaging environment that fosters curiosity and confidence.
To become an Early Years Teaching Assistant, what you have to do:
- Support pupils’ development through structured play and early learning activities.
- Assist with phonics sessions and early literacy and numeracy.
- Help prepare learning materials and resources for EYFS lessons.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with varying learning needs.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Promote good behaviour and routines in line with school expectations.
- Assist with toileting, mealtimes, and general care where needed.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and professionals when required.
- Support the classroom teacher with daily routines and lesson delivery.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
Early Years TA Requirements:
- Experience working with children in an Early Years setting as an Early Years Teaching Assistant is desirable.
- Knowledge of phonics systems such as Letters and Sounds or Read Write Inc.
- A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Education or similar.
- A patient, caring and enthusiastic attitude towards working with children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
