Lecturer in Composite Apprenticeships

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting for a full time Lecturer in Composite Apprenticeships to work at a College in Hull, starting ASAP and lasting for the foreseeable future. This is a temporary position covering an open vacancy, and as such there is potential for the successful candidate to go permanent if they are enjoying the position and performing well within the role. Ideally the college are looking for a candidate taking on a permanent role after 12 weeks on a temporary basis. Payment for this position on a temporary basis will be between £25 and £45 per hour, and on a permanent basis will be salaried between £24,878 and £38,309 per anum.

  • Plan and deliver engaging training sessions on composite materials and manufacturing processes, including laminating, resin infusion, and prepreg layup.
  • Provide hands-on demonstrations in composite workshops, ensuring apprentices learn practical techniques to industry standards.
  • Conduct regular competency-based assessments, ensuring apprentices meet the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.
  • Track and document apprentices' progress using e-portfolio systems and prepare them for end-point assessments (EPA).
  • Ensure all training activities adhere to industry regulations and safety standards, including BS EN ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Promote safe working practices in workshop and classroom environments.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to apprentices, addressing individual learning needs and helping them develop professional skills.
  • Collaborate with employers to ensure training aligns with workplace requirements and expectations.
  • Design, develop, and update curriculum materials to reflect advancements in composite technology and industry best practices.
  • Use virtual learning environments (e.g., Canvas, Moodle) to enhance the delivery of training.
  • Facilitate academic tutorials, providing guidance and support for students.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide feedback to students, ensuring achievement in line with exam board guidelines and quality systems.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and curriculum design.
  • Be involved in student recruitment, marketing, and promotional activities, including open events and enrolment sessions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of subject specialism through professional and vocational development.
  • Visit the workplace to assess apprentices in practice.

What we're looking for in our Lecturer in Composite Apprenticeships:

  • Relevant technical qualification (L3 Diploma in Composites Engineering, Fabrication & Welding, Vehicle Accident Repair, Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Cert Ed/PGCE Education or willingness to work towards
  • Certification(s) in health & safety (e.g., NEBOSH or IOSH) or willingness to work towards
  • Specialised knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques, including laminating, resin infusion, and autoclave curing
  • Experience delivering training in lean manufacturing or Industry 4.0 concepts
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and organisational skills
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with advancements in composite technology and industry needs
