Senior Social Worker Responsibilities:


To provide a high quality and effective social work service to respond to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. To assess need, plan and deliver focused intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. Guidance, support and supervision will be provided in line with the individual's experience and capabilities and in line with our Supervision Policy.


Assessment

Outcome: To provide a clear and accurate assessment of a child and his/her familys needs in line with statutory guidance


Planning and service delivery

To provide focused and purposeful social work interventions with explicit aims and objectives about desired outcomes within the context of managing risk to children


Direct work with children and their families

To build a professional relationship with children and their families and to use that relationship to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes


Accountability

To take responsibility and be accountable for all work undertaken as directed by the Screening Referral Manager/Consultant Social Worker


Partnership with other agencies

To work purposefully with other agencies to promote positive outcomes for children and their families


Senior Social Worker Essential Skills:


Education, Training and Qualifications

  • Recognised social work qualification

  • Social Work England registered

  • Evidence of continuing professional developmen

  • A satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure at enhanced level is required.


Knowledge and Understanding

  • Child development
  • Parenting capacity
  • Environmental factors
  • Risk and protective factors
  • Analysis and evaluation of complex information

Planning and Service Delivery

  • Childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and London Child Protection Procedures
  • Systemic interventions and methodologies
  • Social Learning Theory
  • Formulation and implementation of social work interventions
  • Report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy and information management systems

Direct Work with Children and Families

  • Experience in social work with families
  • Relationship-building skills with children and parents/carers

  • Task prioritization, workload management, and casework accountability

Partnership with Other Agencies

  • Knowledge of key childrens agencies and their roles
