Accounts Assistant
  • Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm

Join a busy accounts team as an Accounts Assistant, where the selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity. The role involves generating accurate and timely financial information, which is crucial for strategic decision-making.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support HR with monthly payroll, providing advice and reviewing documentation.
  • Assist in completing and reviewing quarterly VAT returns.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to populate the cash book before posting.
  • Manage credit control as directed by the Head of Finance.
  • Handle sales ledger management, fee invoice generation, dispute investigation, and resolution.
  • Prepare and issue invoices for non-educational customers who rent facilities, managing associated queries and debt chasing.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to ensure all billing for event sponsorship is raised accurately and payments are received as per contracts.
  • Manage daily bank postings and Direct Debit collections and allocations.
  • Communicate registration fees and deposits received to the admissions team biweekly.
  • Administer and keep records for larger trips, billing, and payments.
  • Support with month-end postings to facilitate the completion of monthly management accounts.
  • Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations for review.
  • Participate in ongoing finance projects as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., AAT or similar) or successful experience in a comparable role.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office products, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in running payroll is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, prioritize and organize workload, and manage time efficiently.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and establish logic over rote learning.
