We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Ipswich. This role involves working with children who have communication and interaction needs, providing support both in a small group setting and on a one-to-one basis.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Spend half of the day in a nurture group consisting of six children and two other staff members. This group is part of the mainstream setting, funded and overseen by the SENCO, focusing on helping children integrate effectively into the classroom.
  • The other half of the day will be dedicated to working one-to-one with a Year 6 boy, supporting his educational and emotional development. A nurturing approach and the ability to build a strong, positive relationship are crucial.
  • The role requires adaptability to meet the diverse needs of the children, ensuring they feel supported and motivated in their learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong background in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with communication and interaction challenges.
  • Experience in handling trauma and implementing nurturing strategies to support children's development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning the best practices in SEN education.
