We are looking for someone who is passionate about innovation and maritime to play a key part in vessel coordination and optimisation at MSC. Our vessels can dock at any time of day, so you will be on hand to ensure our operations are efficient, effective and support our sustainability plans.

Skills and experience you’ll bring to us

We’d like you to bring an open mind and logical thought process as well as nautical knowledge and expertise. You will need to be resilient and calm under pressure and demonstrate advanced numeracy, literacy and IT skills with applications such as Power BI, Microsoft Office suite and Vessel Stowage software. Attention to detail is vital in eliminating avoidable costs and ensuring safety of our vessels, crew & cargo.

Further skills and experience required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and competent verbal and written understanding of the English language
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by the business
  • Demonstrate a professional manner at all times
  • Desire to work proactively and on their own initiative as well as working as part of a team
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise work, meet strict deadlines and be flexible in a fast-paced and demanding environment

How you will help us and what you can expect

Typical contribution includes managing and coordinating booking figures, vessel schedules and ensuring vessels are planned to optimum capacity whilst taking into consideration the constraints of the vessels, cargo and ports. Attention to detail is paramount in double checking all information and ensuring our performance is efficient and stable.

Further daily activities include:

  • Effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring all information provided is accurate- including data reporting
  • Manage special cargo requirements
  • Manage COD / Restow requests and following up with cost assignment
  • Manage any partner’s allocations and follow up with final report to VSA department
  • Manage vessel performance
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Vessel Captains, Chief Officers, Port Planning Dept, Liners, Port Captains and Agents, ensuring effective communication at all times
  • Escalation of key reportable issues
  • Proactive cost analysis
  • Compliance with all international and IMO regulations
