Our client is a leading Non-Food FMCG Distributor who is currently recruiting for a dynamic, WMS led Despatch Manager to manage the late outbound shift at their state of the art site in Didcot, Oxfordshire on a Monday - Friday basis (1200hrs - 2000hrs or 1400hrs - 2200hrs).

Reporting into the Operations Director and with Direct Reports across the Despatch Operations team, you will be expected to lead a despatch operational team and coordinate with all levels of the business to ensure product is packed and delivered to exacting and legal standards, both domestically in the UK and internationally in full and on time to the customer.

Key Accountabilities as Despatch Manager:

路As the business expert, provide leadership to all optional areas of the distribution centre through to despatched orders.

路Coordinate and organise daily despatch activities, including assigning tasks to team members and ensuring work is completed on time and efficiently.

路Monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback to improve productivity and job satisfaction.

路Maintain open communication with clients to ensure their needs and expectations are met.

路Maintain open communication and attend meetings with suppliers / partners to ensure best in class service.

路Develop and implement policies and procedures to effectively manage all despatch operations.

路Maintain accurate records and documentation of despatch activities, including loading and tracking of deliveries and pickups.

路Work collaboratively with other managers and departments to ensure smooth operations and effective customer service.

路Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness in dispatch operations.

路Prepare, review, and compile statistical reports and operational data for despatch KPIs to ensure compliance with performance measurements.

路Deliver daily requirements to ensure we meet our invoicing times throughout a day.

路Lead and co-ordinate all training for all team members at each operational area ensuring best practice is followed at all times. Ensure skills are up to date and fully utilised. Using our inhouse health, safety and training Hub.

路Attend regular meetings and actively collaborate with all levels of the business including the Director of Operations to ensure daily objectives are delivered.

路Lead and engage a team. Identify and nurture talent, effective performance management and creating an environment where others are engaged and empowered to deliver at their best. Working alongside individual operational management functions (departmental)

路Active collaboration with the entire operations management team to achieve sustainable improvements in service, efficiency and cost reduction across the distribution centre. Acting as a senior member of the operations management team to role model desired company behaviours and strategic pillars for Despatch shift functions.

The Ideal Person for the Despatch Manager role:

路Demonstration of delivering significant process improvements throughout all areas of an operation through analytical and strategic thinking.

路First class systems and process knowledge

路Extensive Knowledge of Blue Yonder and or other WMS applications.

路Proven experience of managing the despatch / outbound process

路Experience of relationship management with 3PL partners building effective working relationships.

路Experience of working directly with clients

路Experience of making a technical contribution to systems or process related roadmaps (or able to demonstrate.)

路Proven people management experience and leading multi-functional teams.

路Decisive decision making and site leadership.
