Hays Health & Safety are delighted to be supporting a longstanding, fast-moving manufacturing organisation at a site based in Lancashire to find an experienced and driven Group HSE Manager to develop their great Health & Safety culture.

You will have extensive experience within the manufacturing industry, ideally working in highly hazardous environments and have a proven ability to build relationships, maintaining, developing and implementing a strong Health & Safety Culture.

You will have great knowledge with environmental processes and a track record of implementing these successfully in a similar organisation, ideally with an environmental qualification such as IEMA.

Your new role
Reporting to the HR Director you will;

  • Identify hazards and mitigate risk.
  • Ensure every HSE process and procedure is fully implemented with buy in from all key stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date with HSE Legislation and ensure key stakeholders are aware, advising on best practice.
  • Work with engineering and operational teams to ensure consistency across all areas.
  • Keep organised records such as training records to demonstrate compliance.
  • Ensure a diligent follow up to any reported accidents or incidents ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Ensure, through coaching and engagement, proactive accident reporting across the site.
  • Conduct internal audits and support with external audits.

What you need to succeed

To succeed, you will be a hands-on Health & Safety manager, or a diligent Health & Safety Advisor seeking your next challenge.

You will have expert knowledge with environmental legislation and have experience working with a Duty Holder Register and DSEAR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER.

You will also be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level, a member of IOSH and ideally have some Quality assurance experience.
