Commercial Manager

Permanent or Contractor

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team in Leeds, focusing on utility projects, with a particular emphasis on the water sector. This role is open to both permanent and contract candidates, depending on individual preference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial function on utility projects, ensuring robust commercial governance and cost management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage contract negotiations, administration, and compliance, including NEC and other relevant contract forms.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely insights for senior management and project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring commercial risks are managed and opportunities are maximized.
- Lead the resolution of commercial disputes and claims, ensuring effective mitigation of risk.
- Support project teams in achieving successful delivery within budget and contractual frameworks. - Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing strategic advice to the business to enhance project profitability.

Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager role, with significant exposure to utilities projects, particularly within the water sector.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contract management, with hands-on experience in NEC contracts.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in cost management, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ability to work across multiple projects, ensuring consistency and efficiency in commercial processes.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, MCInstCES) are desirable but not essential.
