MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for an interim ALM Manager to support with Hedge Management within the Market Risk Team.

About the role

Working within the Governance, Risk and Control programme.

The successful candidate would be responsible for supporting the transformation of hedge management including mortgage pipeline monitoring, and assessment of structural positions and behavioural assumptions.

In this role you will be directly responsible for delivering key aspects of the hedge management project, working with colleagues across the Market Risk team, wider Finance function and trading.

You will be expected to evaluate and document requirements, deliver management information and make recommendations to support strategic change in market risk management. This role has no line management responsibility but requires significant engagement with others.

As a reporting specialist with a working knowledge of hedge management, you'll be joining an established team to support the delivery of improvements to the risk management framework.

This role would ideally suit someone with a strong risk reporting background who is looking to build on that knowledge into a specialist area of hedge management.

In this role you'll build upon your existing skillset to support this specialist area within the Treasury directorate. A strong understanding of the balance sheet, corporate structure and data and reporting landscape are key to success in the role.

In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.

Our ideal candidate:

You'll need in-depth knowledge of financial services an understanding of managing banking book interest rate risk within a retail finance institution. This'll be coupled with:

  • Familiarity with the banking book and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.
  • An understanding of net interest margin for financial products and the factors impacting it.
  • Knowledge of key behavioural assumptions impacting market risk for mortgages and savings.
  • Past experience of developing proposals in a technical financial risk field for a wide audience.
  • Examples of delivering change within tight deadlines and having stakeholder engagement through the journey.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements.
  • You'll be someone who is keen to help others learn and develop and, while not a manager, you'll provide thought leadership and encourage best practice in others.
